Having experienced firsthand the importance of access to digital technology and comprehensive education, Dr. Tina recognized its profound impact on an individual’s future and opportunities. She realized that many young minds, regardless of their socioeconomic backgrounds, needed not just access but empowerment, soft and hard skills, and linkage to essential resources and mentorship, which might hinder their potential for success.​

Strong Empathy ​
Driven by her experiences and strong empathy, Dr. Tina sought to use her holistic experiences to create a platform to bridge the digital gap and empower individuals who, in turn, would empower their communities to not just get by but to leverage emerging digital technology skills as tools to excel and live comfortable lives. She believed that every individual, regardless of their background, deserved an equal chance to thrive and succeed in the ever-evolving digital economy.​

Dr. Tina’s vision for STM is to provide equitable access to digital technology and innovation exposure, nurturing a supportive and encouraging atmosphere where students can grow and flourish in their learning journey. Through mentoring and comprehensive digital technology awareness, she aims to empower the next generation to reach for the stars and pay it forward to inspire even more positive change in the world.​

Background​

Dr. Tina is a proud mother of three boys and her beloved girl-golden doodle, TC. Her journey began in Nigeria, West Africa, where she had limited exposure to technology. Everything changed when she arrived in the United States and encountered computers and telephones for the first time. Overcoming countless barriers, Dr. Tina switched her academic path from pre-med to physics, opening the door to a world of technological possibilities. ​

Empowering Lives Through Shifting TechMindset ​

Dr. Tina, a visionary advocate for equal opportunities, dedicates her time to creating a transformative impact through the Shifting TechMindset (STM), a 501c3 nonprofit she founded. With a profound belief in the power of possibilities and second chances, Dr. Tina envisions STM as a conduit to sow seeds of hope and opportunity in the lives of those whom the rapid advancements in technology and innovation may leave behind. ​

Minority Communities  Driven by the adverse impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on minority communities, Dr. Tina embarked on a mission to bridge the digital gap through technology and innovative learning for underprivileged communities and anyone who wishes to join STM. She recognized that the pandemic further limited the youths from the underprivileged community’s access to quality learning, networking, and social acceptance. Driven by her passion for addressing the digital skill divide, Dr. Tina believes ensuring equal access to quality learning and opportunities for future generations in underprivileged communities is crucial. ​

Resilience and Determination  Dr. Tina’s journey to becoming the driving force behind STM is characterized by resilience and determination. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Physics from Alabama A&M University and a master’s degree in electrical and computer Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Her curiosity to learn led her to complete an MBA at Colorado State University and a Doctorate in Business Administration from Walden University. ​

Professional Certifications  In addition to her impressive educational achievements, Dr. Tina holds numerous professional certifications, including Life Cycle Assessment: Quantifying Environmental Impacts from MIT and certificates from prestigious programs such as the Harvard Advanced Management Program (AMP202) and Harvard Business Analytics Program (HBAP). Her expertise extends to Supply Chain Management (SCM), Lean Six Sigma Green & Black Belts, and Project Management Professional (PMP). ​

Tech Sector Experience  Having started her career at Hewlett Packard Company, Dr. Tina boasts an outstanding track record of 27 years in the technology and innovation industry. Her invaluable experiences have shaped her understanding of the sector and its immense potential. ​

Home Country  Born and raised in Nigeria, West Africa, Dr. Tina embarked on her journey to the United States after completing high school in her home country. Her pursuit of education and career heights was fraught with challenges, represented by the metaphorical scars she wears proudly as badges of honor.  ​

Her Mission  Driven by her experiences, Dr. Tina’s mission with STM is to transform those emotional scars into stepping stones for others, ensuring their paths are smoother and more prosperous.  ​

Her Ultimate Goal  Her ultimate goal is to give voice to the voiceless, inspire and empower underprivileged youth, and level the digital economy equity field by encouraging them to pursue careers in the technology and innovation industry.​

Her Career

 

AT&T Bell Labs ​

Her transformative experience came during a summer internship at AT&T Bell Labs, where she kickstarted her career as an R&D process engineer. Delving into the fascinating realm of Silicon Wafers and plasma etchings, Dr. Tina defined, developed, and characterized the quality of these crucial components. She even explored the effects of photoluminescence on Silicon Wafers exposed to Hydrogen Bromide Plasma. Inspired by her time as an R&D engineer, she embarked on a path in process engineering, ultimately becoming the quality transformation leader for HPE’s Compute’s Synergy Products. 

Her Vision
Dr. Tina’s vision is to shift the technology mindset of the next generation of business leaders and entrepreneurs, starting early on their career journeys.  ​

Leader in Training  As a young leader in training, GC understands the challenges young people face in today’s fast-paced digital economy. He wants to use his voice and platform to advocate for equal access to opportunities, resources, and learning for all youth, regardless of their background or circumstances. GC aims to inspire his peers and future generations to believe in themselves and their potential to impact the world positively by being the voice of NextGen. ​

Passion for STEM   GC’s passion for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and his desire to see more young boys and girls pursue careers in technology align perfectly with STM’s mission. He sees STM as a vehicle to empower and elevate the voices of young individuals, encouraging them to pursue their dreams and aspirations in anything they want to do when they grow up. ​
